Transit Peace Officer Supervisor - City of Edmonton

Investigate the incredible opportunity! As a supervisor with our Downtown team, you will utilize your exceptional leadership, administrative, communication and problem solving skills to help lead intelligence led/needs-based safety and security services to City of Edmonton employees, citizens and visitors.

Your duties will include:
Supervising and coordinating the activities of operational Peace Officers to ensure that the objectives of ETS Safety and Security are met
Providing leadership and direction to staff
Scheduling and deploying staff in accordance with an intelligence based model
Providing direction on operational issues and concerns; initiating post-incident debriefings with team members and other team leaders
Coordinating and/or conducting security incident investigations
Coordinating and/or managing administrative projects
Conducting routine patrols to detect and deter criminal activity to ensure facilities are monitored, while promoting public safety on City of Edmonton property
Submitting intelligence reports as directed
Managing records and evidence in accordance with Peace Officer Program policies and procedures, FOIP and Provincial legislation
Liaising with the Security team, Service Support, Edmonton Police Service and other organizations and agencies
Compiling detailed reports, testimony and evidence in court or any other hearings as required
Completing and submitting accident investigation reports and WCB claims
Continuing to perform standard Peace Officer duties and any other duties as required

Completion of a recognized Diploma related to Law Enforcement, Security or Criminology with coursework in supervision and a minimum of 5 years strong customer service experience is required as well as 3 years of diverse law enforcement experience and 1 year of experience in a related supervisory capacity
OR Completion of Grade 12 and coursework in supervision with a minimum 5 years of enforcement experience in a recognized policing environment (must have been a serving Police Officer in Canada within the past 5 years) along with 1 year of experience in a related supervisory capacity
Ability to obtain and retain Community Peace Officer Level I Provincial Designation and a clear security clearance
Must pass the PARE physical fitness test
Valid Alberta Class 5 driver’s licence (or provincial equivalent). Obtaining and maintaining a City Driver’s permit is a requirement of this position.
Possession of valid Standard First Aid and Basic CPR certificates and AED qualified
Knowledge of Edmonton Transit policies, standard operating procedures, and guidelines would be an asset
Skilled in exercising good tact, sound judgment and firmness in dealing with difficult situations and with the public
Knowledge of applicable policies, bylaws, acts, legislation and basic principles of loss prevention
Strong verbal and written communication skills, including ability to prepare clear, concise and accurate reports
Ability to use current computer software including word processing and databases
Ability to provide team leadership, supervision, and administration
Knowledge of technical tools and effective investigative skills
Knowledge of self defense techniques including the safe and effective use of batons and pepper spray

Successful candidates will be subject to successfully obtaining and/or completing:
PPCT and/or PSS training and other training deemed necessary
The Physical Abilities Readiness Evaluation (P.A.R.E.) within 4 minutes and 45 seconds (4:45)
Municipal Bylaw Enforcement Officer Status, Community Peace Officer Level I designation
An enhanced security clearance during the probationary period
City of Edmonton medical requirements including the Farnsworth d-15 eye examination

Hours of Work: 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday, 9 hour days. Hours of work may be subject to the terms and conditions of a variable hours of work program.

Salary: $43.288 (Hourly); $90,385.34 (Annually)
